As Welcomemat celebrates 15 years of local marketing partnerships, we reflect on what has made the first fifteen years so successful for the organization and small businesses across the country.

Fifteen years ago we put a stake in the local marketing space using data marketing tools to provide even greater benefit to local businesses than what was available to them at the time – it was something different. We’ve been using data in our marketing programs since our company’s inception in 2003. At that time most small businesses we spoke with weren’t even interested in that fact. It’s laughable now, that in 2003 we had to explain the need for data. Business owners were wowed by the results – and we knew we had something worth pursuing. We’ve been pursuing this idea of successful and affordable marketing for small business by integrating data into our services for better marketing tools ever since.
The journey to build a business isn’t easy, like most things worth doing (I can hear my father’s voice in that), but it is most certainly satisfying when you build something that becomes no longer your own but a part of everyone else. There is an amazing team at Welcomemat, both at our corporate office and our greater Welcomemat team – the Welcomemat franchises placed around the nation, all pursuing now the same mission of helping others succeed – through our foundation of successful local marketing.
Because we’ve chosen to do things differently from the very beginning – we’ve been able to accomplish our mission of helping others succeed and have been able to set ourselves apart in the print and marketing space. It’s these differences that make us who we are. It has impacted our innovations, direction, culture and the goals we set.
We’ve garnered patents and proprietary processes for our new mover marketing program, and we are currently working on more for our most recent additions – perfect match postcards and digital marketing tools. Now that “data” has become a mainstream word that we’re all aware of – with everyone on the same page it’s much easier to illustrate to local business owners how our programs and innovations can benefit them – reaching exactly who they want when they want.
Taking the direction of pioneers in our print space impacts not only our path but also our culture. Our mission is immediately noticeable when you come through our doors or meet someone from Welcomemat. We are trying to help others with the differences we can provide – we understand that our programs connect people – we’re helping new movers and consumers who are looking for the businesses we work with– we’re matchmakers in the B2C world.
So what will the next 15 years look like? We’ve got a few things planned.
